Become a Mentor

Your life experience and the wisdom you have gained can be beneficial to someone’s healing process.

The next step in your journey

Are you in stable recovery from an eating disorder? You could become a mentor and encourage an individual on their journey towards living the life they envision. This program asks that participants be in solid recovery and behavior free for a minimum of 2 years.

Through EDF’s mentorship program, we will match you with a mentee who is in need of support. Your wisdom and life experience can be beneficial to someone’s healing process through guidance, support, encouragement and hope. This 10 week program will provide support via weekly connections.  We welcome individuals from all states. Please note that until further notice all of our pairs are to meet virtually.  We strongly believe in the power of connection, meaningful conversations, and creating a community of like-minded individuals – factors we attribute to living a life in/towards recovery.

At EDF we don’t believe there is one definition of recovery or being recovered from an eating disorder. Each journey is meaningful, powerful and unique. There is no requirement of formal treatment to validate recovery. For the safety and care of both our Mentors and Mentees, we ask that you have been in stable recovery for at least 2 years. Stable recovery will be discussed in the application review and from the information listed in your application.  BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and those with varying abilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

How do I apply?

Please complete the Mentor Application Form and return via email to us at cengels@eatingdisorderfoundation.org.  We’ll set up an Application Review to get to know you and your potential contribution to our program.

Applications accepted year round.
